Moki Update

It's been 5 weeks since Moki started Thyroid meds. He has 10 times more energy, is jumping and playing like when he was a puppy. Wrestling and chasing Tate around the house has become a daily activity. However this last week his hair started falling out. He doesn't normally shed and I completely freaked out. The vet assured me that the hair loss is most likely due to his system restarting. So for now, I have lint rollers for all visitors :)

Figuring out a routine to give Moki his meds twice a day has been interesting. I've missed a couple evening doses here and there, and boy do I feel like a terrible mother. I've also struggled with drug delivery. I tried peanut butter, which Moki promptly spit out on my carpet. I tried different treats and meats, but depending on his mood he may or may not take it. As a last resort I tried cookie dough, and he loved it. Ahhh.. he truly is my child! Each morning and night all 3 of us (Moki, Tate & I) get our bite of dough... mmm its delicious and better yet, we haven't missed a dose in a week.

We had our follow up blood work done yesterday. The results came back great. His thyroid levels have come up from 2 to 30, and he has lost 1.1 pounds. We will continue to watch the hair loss and go back in 6 months for more blood work.
